BCC HQ at Songjiang Road Period
At the end of 1999, the HQ of BCC
moved toBCC Songjiang Building
atSongjiang Road,
where it currently resides and officially entered ¡§Songjiang Road Period¡¨.
During this stage, there¡¦s
economic downturn inTaiwan
and new TV/cable stations and Internet were taking up share of the limited
broadcasting and advertising market. BCC faced a very difficult situation
operationally. However, with the hard work of its staff, BCC installed dozens
of broadcasting transmitter platforms in western Taiwan and Hualian, which
leads the industry and in addition, it still led the market in number of
listeners and advertising revenue. Moreover, it began cooperating with Internet
and cellular phone companies to create new added-values and expanding its
influence in order to welcome the new ¡§digital broadcasting¡¨ age.
After the political power
shifted, BCC was oppressed by the then leading party in different ways;
although it received popular support, but the damage was done. The reduction of
stations and actions done in response to regulations eliminating political
party and military references, BCC performed group reorganization, end of year
salary calculation and layoffs, and after layoff the amount of staff became 270.
On December 26, 2005, Hua Hsia Investment Co., BCC¡¦s holding company,
transferred the stock shares Rong Li Investment Co. BCC officially transformed
from party-run media to civilian run media.
The memory hard work done by BCC
staff will remain in the minds of all its colleagues and the people of this
nation. Looking toward the future, new BCC employees will do their best to
continue operating and create a new era.

After the 921
Earthquake, BCC reporters were the first ones on the scene.

On September 17, 2001,
Hurricane Nari severely damaged Taipei City . Songjiang Building was flooded and the power went out. BCC used its own generator for lighting and
broadcasting to continue to bring the news about the damage.

The satellite antenna
and the microwave transmission system at Songjiang Road are responsible for the
program transmission for the primary 11 transmission bases (including Jinmen
Station). |
