Department of Investigation and Classification is located at the triangle between Jih-hsin Hall, Chih cell block, and the first and second factories. It specializes in collecting data about the inmates, and conducts surveys on inmate conditions and relatives. Photographs before and after shaving inmates' hair are taken to conduct analysis and to establish case histories. This Department also regularly conducts psychological tests on the psychological conditions, health, personality, and habits of each inmate, to serve as a reference for control, treatment, and instruction.
