　　The Department of Education and Instruction was located on the two sides of the Jih-hsin Hall, and directly within the Hall. Sometimes there the public address system was used to make instructions to inmates, or music was played for group instruction. The purpose of education and instruction was to enhance the life knowledge of inmates, to cultivate virtues, develop good personal qualities, and to help them improve themselves, so they could be adapted to life in the society after they leave prison. Currently, education and instruction are considered separate, and literary and health activities are also arranged.
