　　The main gate was made from Alishan cypress, because the Japanese like this type of tree very much, they used it as the main construction material, and it was fashioned by Japanese carpentry artisans. Due to some natural and man-made disasters, the bricks on the main gate now have some holes. Later, because of renovations, the cypress gate and brick walls have different heights, and the height of the gate was lowered as well.

　　This gate usually does not open when most people visit. The gate was for cars. Inmates and staff use the smaller door on the left of the main gate, and the right door was used by the higher officials. This gate only opens for important people in cars, and the larger freight trucks use the inspection office on the left upper side of the prison for deliveries.
