Reflections on the competition

I learned many things participating in this activity. Since I tend to be anxious and subsequently grouchy, I really appreciate the teammates’ accommodation of me. In this competition, learned that group cooperation and perseverance are very important. We worked very hard until the last minute. In the past, I did not believe in cooperation, and always thought that cooperation would only limit me, and I would not be able to show my talents. But now I feel that the true value of cooperation is in expressing one’s own talents while discovering one’s disadvantages. Additionally, because of encouragement between one another, I learned about the coldness and warmth of society through this thematic study. The society is not as dark as the media has shown. No matter how cold the winter is, there is still a flame of hope burning in the dark wintery night. I thank all the team members of the Chia-yi City Chia-yi Charity Organization and the teachers who have helped us to overcome obstacles. Without them, we would probably feel very helpless and lost, and would have given up. I am also very thankful for this activity, because it helped me to grow a lot.

At first I joined because I wanted to enhance my own abilities through entering the competition. After getting better, I found that this competition not only helps me how to compile dialogs into reports and compile data into articles, but also allowed me to understand the importance of teamwork. Additionally, I learned how to solve problems without hurting feelings when there are different opinions. The theme “Chia-yi Charity Organization” has allowed me to understand this Organization, as well as sense the goodwill and passion of many people. Some things and events are rare, but participation in the Cyberfair competition has given me a valuable lesson.

It has been six months, and the Cyberfair is finally ending. The quickness of it all was difficult to get used to. In the beginning, I did not think too much, and had the notion of “it’s just writing articles, typing up progress, I’m not doing anything anyway.” I did not imagine I would be so devoted to it; I don’t even remember how many art and technical classes I missed. I guess the motivation has always been you guys! The other members are often moved by your attitudes. Even though we went through a period of doubt, arguing, and disappointment, we are still here. Those who came for reporting and the questionnaires also helped us to grow a lot. Thank you, including my teammates, the teachers who have guided us, and all those who have helped us.

I am participating in this Cyberfair because the team leader found me. My participation basically follows orders from the team leader, but I was almost working entirely in looking up information and typing words into the computer so that the work of team members is easier. I felt that I did not have as tiring work as others, and my work could be said to be the easiest. Even though I did not help much in participation of this Cyberfair, since I listened and observed a lot, I learned quite a bit as well. Since we needed more information relating to the Chia-yi Charity Organization, every Sunday morning at 6 we would get on the bus for the Chia-yi Charity Organization, to build bridges with the members of Chia-yi Charity Organization, and we would work and ask questions. This experience is very memorable, and made me feel that it was very meaningful for us to participate in work for the Cyberfair; it also allowed me to have greater and deeper understanding for Chia-yi City Chia-yi Charity Organization.

At first I only learned about the bridge building of Chia-yi Charity Organization through written words, but after I was able to experience it for myself at the work location, I had different feelings. Going to the sites to move sand and rocks or to cook made me very tired, but the charitable hearts of people helped me to completely forget my physical fatigue and I reveled in this joyful work. I did not complain and worked happily each time, enjoying the sweet fruits of labor. From the faces of teammates from the Charity Organization, I saw joy and happiness. I could see that people were physically tired, but their faces did not show any unwillingness or displeasure, so I did not dare slacken. Even though the kind sirs and madams showed us so much goodness, I still did not want to rest, because I felt that doing these things made me happy.

I am glad I participated in the competition of the Cyberfair. In the competition, I learned a lot of extracurricular knowledge. Other than information technology and word processing techniques, I also learned many precious principles for living, such as: team cooperation, time management, respect, and others. In the thematic study I also learned many very kind people, such as the enthusiastic volunteers at the bridge-building work sites, the lady from the Department of Social welfare. The relationship with school teachers even became more harmonious; similarly, the relationship with Chia-yi City Chia-yi Charity Organization was also very good. These are all precious memories from participating in this competition. In the future, whether in university or workforce, I hope that this competitive experience can help me overcome obstacles and not become a lost sheep.

Participation in the Cyberfair has allowed me to grow a lot. I truly experienced the importance of team cooperation. From the initial decision of the topic to the later interviews at the headquarters, as well as the actual investigation and experience in work sites, I had many feelings in my heart that surrounded me. For example, when I saw the actual conditions of the work site, especially after I wrote the interview drafts, which kept being revised and there was red all over the paper, I really wanted to give up. However, when I saw the hard work of other members, I felt ashamed at wanting to give up! When we experienced it, we found that the society still had many kind people; I truly admired their spirit of contributing on Sundays.
In summary, in this activity, I was very happy to have worked with these teammates. Even though I did not work much, they did not mind at all, and this let me understand the saying “cooperation is power.”

I was the last to join this team, but I believe what I learned was not less than those of the other team members. I feel honored at having participated in this competition, and I learned a lot and grew a lot. I also thank the junior students who have helped.
