Significance of Sogo History of Sogo The Blue Ocean of Sogo

       

Origin


In October 1983, Pacific Construction Co., LTD started to plan for building a department store. Two years later, “San Men Design Group” took on the task to design the Professional Department Store Building, which once won 11th bronze medal in Taiwan Architect Magazine Prize (1989). After signing with Japanese Sogo, Co., Ltd in March 1986 and being ratified by Investment Commission, MOEA of Ministry of Economic Affairs on June 18th, 1986, Pacific Sogo Department Store formally opened in Taipei Zong-xiao Road on November 11th, 1987.


Since Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store opened in 1993 and Pacific SOGO Department Store opened as the 2nd Japanese department store in 1996 in Sanduo Shopping District, the Shopping District has become more and more competitive in department store market.


Later, because Pacific Construction Co., LTD broke out financial crisis, the management rights of the department store was transformed to the Far Eastern Group. Despite of the changed management rights, the service spirit of respecting consumers has made SOGO build up firm foundation in Sanduo Shopping District.


Current Development


With the modern image of being fashionable, high-class, high-quality and muti-functioned, Pacific SOGO Department Store also strictly examines service manners, process of operation planning and the set-up and maintenance of every hardware for the consumer’s rights. To correspond with the idea of serving the public, the “Pacific Chong-guang Cultural Foundation”, set in 77, holds various kinds of cultural and living activities. To date, there have been already 8 Pacific SOGO Department Stores in Taiwan and even 9 in China.


Except for the original business spirit, SOGO in Sanduo Shopping District is also thoughtful of the consumer. In consuming environment, it renovates the environment according to the season from time to time, providing the customers with much more perfect service and environment. It is the “business spirit” that the Pacific SOGO Department Store holds in Sanduo Shopping District.
