IV.Contents: This week our teacher introduced us to the 8th Taiwanese Schools Cyber Fair activity, and told us that they were recruiting team members to join the competition. I thought it was very interesting, so I joined. I need to finish the paperwork, and I hope I'll be chosen. I need to:

A.Hand by parents "A letter to the parents", to let them know about this activity.

B.Fill in the form, and hand it in.

C.Let my parents sign the parent agreement form, and hand it in.

D.Surf the 8th Taiwanese Schools Cyber Fair site, to understand the contest rules and to observe past winners.

E.Write a response on D and hand it in.

IV.Contents: A few days ago, Ms. Tian came to ask us if we wanted to join the cyber fair. My heart was beating extremely fast, because I remembered the good times I had with my friends and teachers at last years cyber fair. A smile appeared on my face, and I though, "What a chance. I won't let it go!" Remembering the last time, I was happy but a little regretful, since I don't think I tried my best. I was a too playful, and couldn't seriously join the discussions, missing a good chance to learn .This time, however, I will work harder. I know this time I can do better than last time!

III.Feelings on first time in a cyber fair: About my first cyber fair, I would like to say that I really wanted to join. I've never done so before, so I will overcome all difficulties this time. Ever since Mr. Yeh told us that the computer teacher needed some students to join the cyber fair, I was excited, and hoped that they would pick me. In the end, they did! I am really glad, and hope I will do my best.

III.Feelings on first time in a cyber fair: I've never joined a cyber fair before, so it feels really new to me. Though I still don't know what to do, I do know it will be an interesting competition. I hope that through our effort we can be really successful!

Parent Conference

IV.Contents: Our team has finally come together! 12 classmates, and 3 teachers, 15 in all. We had a parent's conference this time to explain to them about this whole thing, and to invite them to join in this activity together. I was glad that most parents were supportive and willing to proved assistance for us. This let my expectations for this cyber fair to rise. Although I'm not very good with the computer, I will do my best, and I hope that this year we can get a good ranking, and do better than last year.

Parent Conference

IV.Contents: Today's purpose was to discuss our team name and topic. In fifth grade we were introduced to the greenhouse effect, and we think that too much greenhouse gases are bad for the Earth. This is an important issue, and we have some knowledge on ways to achieve reduction. After much discussion, things got interesting, and we thought that this was an interesting topic, so besides us understanding it, we want more people to know. Our classes and school are our first steps, then our families and communities. We want to take action right away and do something for the health of Earth. We also discussed are team name, so to cool down the Earth, we called ourselves the Cool Environmental Scouts. Let the research begin. GO! GO! GO!

IV.Contents: After deciding our topic, we started to collect data, and after some hard work, we found a lot of great information. We found information on the causes, effects, related news, and related websites. I believe that with our efforts, we can accomplish a lot!

IV.Contents: To let the students in our school understand the greenhouse effect, our teachers applied for the Taipei City EPB's 2006 Taipei City Campus Air Pollution Prevention Lecture. We invited students from our school, grades 3~6 to join this lecture. The teacher used vivid films, manuals and interactive games to let us easily understand the relationship between air pollution and climate changes, and also reminded us to think about reducing air pollution in everyday life.Here is some information to tell all the schools in Taipei City how to apply for such an activity!

Campus Air Pollution Prevention Lecture

IV.Contents: The reason Earth is sick is because of air pollution. Greenhouse     gases are not the main reason, but humans waste resources, causing excess amounts, destroying the balance on Earth. Luckily there are people who want to protect Earth and go around promoting everyone to take action to protect Earth. I we don't, Earth will die. Thank you! We should follow these people and take action, and do what we can.

   After the lecture, I asked some classmates their thoughts:               Regina: We hope that this promotion will work, and let the teachers and students of our school have a better understanding of the environment. We can save the Earth together. The games were interesting, and the films were ideal for learning from pictures. It was a good lecture! 

   Henrry: Protecting the Earth is something we need to do now! No matter now or the future, we need to continue working hard! Everybody! Harder! Go! I hope that everyone will join the ranks and help protect the Earth. Let's all fight for Earth!

IV.Contents: Nowadays, every country is working for the future! As long as we keep going, in a few more years, the Earth will be revived and will glow with pride. It will smile, so I hope everyone works together! Below are some responses from classmates on the lecture: 

            Sandy:  Through films and games, this activity held by the EPB taught us that there is only one Earth, and that we can't pollute it anymore. We need to reduce the amount of air pollution and protect this planet, the only one we have.

   Maggie: To protect Earth from pollution, anything would be worth it. I hope that through this promotion, everyone will protect the environment. Everyone should know that there is only one Earth and we need to treasure it, or no one can live on it anymore. 

   Ken: Protect the Earth! Everyone can say that, but not everyone can do it. We can't let Environmental Protection and Save the Earth become merely a slogan, so we all need to roll up our sleeves and put it into action.

IV.Contents: The Earth's environment is worsening. Through this lecture, we can let more classes and students understand the importance of protecting the Earth. Using this method to pass on the message, we hope that besides us Environmental Scouts, more people will join our ranks and work together for our sick Earth. I believe that if everyone tries their best we can let Earth recover sooner and go back to its beautiful and clean past. Some of my classmate's responses:

            Ben: Earth has been harmed so seriously, it's time to protect it and maintain a good environment. This time, the EPB's activity was to promote pollution control, and in hopes, the class, school, or even the whole country or world will come together to help Earth recover as soon as possible.

   Jack: Earth is facing death, so we humans should not postpone anymore. We should hurry up and take action to save Earth. This activity let more people know the importance of protecting our planet, so as long as we work together, Earth will become what it use to be.
