Packer’s One Day

Put on the uniform and I began experiencing a packer’s one day

I came to the western cake packaging area on the second floor. Here I should do the packaging of wedding cake along with aunt Cai Mei-Ying, Chief of Packaging Section, for a whole day. The packaging procedure of wedding cake is as follows:

Pack wedding sugar: place four pieces of milk nougat and four pieces of chocolate nougat in a heart-shaped iron box.
Place iron box: place the iron box with sugars into a pink lining.
Place cakes: except the heart-shaped box, each of the other case should be filled with certain biscuits.
Place lining into wedding cake box: place the lining with biscuits into the wedding cake box.
Sealing: seal the box with transparent strips to prevent it from being opened by accident.
Bind flower: if it is required in the design, bind a piece of ribbon flower on the wedding cake box.
Print date: print the date of expiration.
Encasement: place the packaged gift box into a paper case.

My experience

At 7:30 a.m. in the morning, we left for the Nougat Museum to experience the jobs. I was assigned to experience a packer’s one day. It was said that this is an easy job, funny and convenient to enjoy delicious food. However, it is not the case at all after I experienced it personally.
I once thought the job of packer was easy and simple, and there was nothing difficult. Later, I found it is really not easy to hold certain number of biscuits and put them in order according to the step of a machine that never stops or feel tired. Sometimes I placed the biscuit too slowly and it disturbed the following steps.

Seeing piles of biscuits, everybody could not help slobbering!

To draw a conclusion of the experience today, I must say I was so tired

In the morning I experienced the work of placing nougats into heart-shaped boxes and placing biscuits. My waist was sore. I got to know the work is not as imagined at all, and it is really a hard, tiring work. I repeated the motions over and over again, over and over again, until the lunch time. It was good to meet with my classmates. However, the good time did not last lo ng. We came back to our own posts at 12:30 p.m. I went on with the work of packaging, and this time I got a new task. I entered the western cake packaging area

and,my God, I saw piles of cakes. Everybody can not help slobbering when facing so many delicious foods, but all that I can do was just slobbering. This time I faced a faster machine, and I must place the biscuits onto the machine at a speed faster than I packaged cakes. Not too long a time my waist and back became aching. The aunts who worked here for years must have suffered serious waist ache for a long time!
Another thing I suffered was, behind a window I saw a brother place something into the oven and a moment later I smelled the sweet flavor of biscuits. What I can do was just to lick my lips and watch the biscuits running out from the other side of the oven. What a torment it was!
To draw a conclusion of the experience today, I must say I was so tired. However, before we rang out, the board chairman sent us a box of wedding cake named Sin-Ai. With the gift box earned through hard work, I walked happily on the way home. Thank Aunt Mei-Ying. Thank the board chairman!
