Presently the Paiwan Community consists of 3 groups of residents, Gaoyan, Shelu and Paiwan. There are 2 also churches (Catholic and Christian). From long ago the 3 groups have been unfriendly terms and till today there has been with no cohesion, thus it is a tough duty to be the community leader. However, with recent activities by the Paiwan Community Development Association, such as the “Paiwan Village Community Introduction”, “Pintung County Majia Township”, “Paiwan Community Fawan Tribe Electricity Connection and Root-seeking Event”, “25th Pintung County Majia Township Relocation Anniversary Memorial Event”, “Community Nose-flute Classes” and “Alpine Music Festival – Forestry Flute Tunes”, by actively involving the residents with their community the residents had come to understand community management and were impacted by a variety of information. The Association then actively planned projects and requested funding to host community activities that brought about community unity and interpersonal cohesion.

Currently, reconstruction of Old Paiwan Tribe, skills training in traditional arts, and training for eco-tourism management experts for Old Paiwan have given the unemployed population opportunities to rejoin the working class; this has become the main focus for the following development and is the new goal in community-building for the Paiwan residents.

The Pintung County Goevernment’s Indigenous Peoples’ Bureau has raised the proposal to reconstruct the Old Paiwan Tribe, and with both local planning and tribal self-construction the Paiwan Community now have 12 traditional slabstone houses and 4 stone stairways. During reconstruction the community recorded traditional skills from words to paper and through manual work these traditional methods were successfully passed from the elders to the younger generation.
