Little Cricket's Secret Snack

Eating in Sin-hua--4

Do you wish to know the must-try eateries in Sin-hua other than eating at restaurants and buying local specialties? Here is an introduction of must-try secret snacks for the little crickets after school!

Sponge Cake

Situated inside the traditional market beside Watson's, are ordinary looking eateries. Do not underestimate them. They are usually busy all day long. People often wait in a long line for the warm, good smelling and sweet sponge cakes that are always sold out right away. The working hours are from 9am to 6pm. Don't be late or you might miss it.

Are you sure you want to get in line, Sir?

Chinese Medicinal Buffalo Wing

Chinese Medicinal Buffalo Wings in front of Tai-Tzu Temple are known far and wide. Everyone loves its excellent taste. You don't need to be close to the eatery to smell the fried Buffalo wings. They are sold at $50 for four pieces. The subtle-Chinese-medicine smell, the crunchy and non-greasy tasteKaren't you feeling hungry now?

Do you see the fried chicken stand in front of the joss house? This is the one!

A-Po Crushed Ice

A-Po means the old woman. A-PoCrushed Ice is located by the traditional market in front of Hu-An Temple. The broadcaster had interviewed this place a few times and it even went on T.V. A-Po Crushed Ice looks ordinary but it serves value-back dishes at low prices. When you visit Sin-hua during the summer, remember to eat at A-Po's for black sugar crushed ice. It is thirst-quenching, refreshing and healthy. Her warm smiles are free of charge. Satisfaction guaranteed!

The crushed-ice business isn't very good in the winter. Looks like the old woman has gone on a vacation!!

Oden Po

At the back of the market lies Oden Po's eatery stand. Unless you know exactly where you are going, it is hard to find! Little cricket must report to you about this great local food. Well reputed for its 5-dollar oden, delicious meatball, tempura and rice blood cake etc are sold at affordable prices. By the way, when you eat at Oden Po, don't forget to order soup for take out! Great taste guaranteed!

We don't have much time right now, so just take some pictures.

Under the Banyan Tree

Do you want to experience authentic local tastes? Under the Banyan Tree is the answer! It is the place to be after school or at the end of a ballgame play when you are hungry! Get a bamboo chair and rest under the tree with evening breeze. Have Oden (fish cake stew) served with ice tea. When you are full, take a walk home at sunset. Under the Banyan Tree offers a variety of flavors- Rice blood cake dipped in peanut butter powder is definitely our favorite

Sitting under the banyan is kind of romantic, isn't it?
