Gua-Gua-Yuan

Gua-Gua, as implied by the name has to be related to gourd. It is the specialty of Sin-hua. There are two sweet potato selling stores. One is located at the intersection of Sin-hua Old Street and the other is across from Street Town Hall . They are not large in size but offer a variety of products.

Do not underestimate the power of the sweet potato. Other than its nutritional ingredients, there are also many related products made from it. Here, vendors sell sweet potato pastry, black golden sweet potato (black sugar), Honey sweet potato cube, honey sweet potato fries, sweet potato chip, golden peanut pastry, red bean pastry, golden ball, yam ball, taro sweet potato ball, sweet potato pearl ball, sweet potato filling, sweet potato ice stick, ice BBQ sweet potato, and ice BBQ purple sweet potato. Buy some and experience the traditional BBQ sweet potato taste. (Simply heat inside oven) Sweet potato fries and sweet potato pearl balls are highly recommended! They taste different than American french-fries and regular pearl balls. They are definitely worth a try!

By the way, if you stop by here in afternoons, don't forget to try the fried Golden sweet potato fries. They do not have the greasy taste like traditional fries do. Have a glass of icy white gourd tea and enjoy the time of your lie!

A-Chu dumpling

Speaking of A-Chu dumpling, it is a few walking steps in front of Street Town Hall. What's so special about it? Well, it is owned by our Cricket member- Hung Hsiang Jia! Oh, it is not recommended for this reason, it's the special dumplings!

Mistress A-Chu is known as Dumpling queen. They are often called colorful dumplings by customers. Each perfect dumpling has a unique flavor and they come in tens when served in plates which signify perfection. Lung-Hui Cafeteria (Fu-Yuan Bakery)

Lung-Hui is an old cafeteria in Sin-hua. Located by the road about 200 meters west of Sin-hua Junior High School, it specializes in using specialties of Sin-hua in creating the Tavokan-Three-Treasures Meal unlike other regular cafeterias. The boss Ms. He Mei-Feng said: there are few specialty stores in Sin-hua that attract tourists, so I wanted to create special dishes using special local ingredients. After some researches and studying, Three-Treasures became the specialty dish of the cafeteria. In addition, Ms. He is good at making handicrafts, so she decorated her store using her delicate hands. Paper clay drawings are hung on the wall and cricket designs made of paper clays are placed inside the display windows. When dining in the store, other than enjoying delicious food, the artistry is also quite a sight to see.

In addition to Lung-Hui Cafeteria, Ms. He also runs Fu-Yuan Bakery. Similarly, she added many of her own ideas in bread making such as a variety of popular vanilla flavored bread, and large sweet potato bread with sweet potato filling, which represent the locality. What's more, physically and mentally impaired workers are hired inside the store as she assists them in learning about production and business dealing. The bread is even tastier when they give you naïve smiles and say thank you.
