Xin-Yi Business District

TAIPEI 101 is located in the Shin Yi District of Taipei City.  The Shin Yi District covers the area of Zhongxiao East Road on the north, Keelung Road on the west, Sungde Road on the east, and Shin Yi Road on the south.  Shin Yi District is considered the prime area with best development potential in the East District.  Shin Yi District used to be a desolate land before 1990’s.  The government strived to convert the Shin Yi District into commercial area through planning, and the area started the aggressive development history since then.  Around 2000’s Shin Yi District has replaced Taipei West District to become the prime area, while the Taipei West District has quietly retreated from the youngster’s stage.
The Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Shin Yi Shopping Center and Warner Village Cinemas started the business here around 1997.  In August of 1999, the government has attracted international financial services or high-tech information industry to enter TAIPEI 101.  The World Trade Center Hall II was completed in 2000.  The New York New York opened business in 2000.  The Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Shopping Center Hall II started in 2002, while TAIPEI 101 started in 2004.  After over 20 years of conversion and construction, the district has moved out of the desolation in the past and become the prosperous business area in Shin Yin District.  The expensive land area, leisure and entertainment, fashion and culture, and politics and economy have gradually moved into Shin Yi District and become the new city center of Taipei.  The district will become the second Manhattan and the unlimited potential is already visible.
