A:San Diego Lighthouse
The lighthouse is located at Sandiaojiao (San Diego Cape) on the northeast coast of Taiwan and started service in 1935. After two vessels sunk near San Diego Cape in 1929 and 1931 respectively, the lighthouse was built to protect and guide vessels nearby. The lighthouse was equipped with the third-class kerosene incandescent lamp, which flashed white beams twice and red beams twice consecutively every twenty eight seconds. The lighthouse was guide vessels with red arc-light signals to identify the position of Gueishan. |
In 1942, the lighthouse was re-equipped with the electric lamp with the third-class rotated lens, which generated 650,000 candlepower of white light and 110,000 candlepower of red light. |
The lighthouse was damaged by bombs during the World War II. The lighthouse was renovated and started service in 1946 after the Recovery of Taiwan. |
