Huayu Lighthouse was built on the hilltop of Huayu in Penghu archipelago in 1939. The lighthouse was equipped with the fourth-class acetylene flashing lamp, which flashed white light once every five seconds with 1,600 candlepower light.

　　The lighthouse stopped service because of lacking in acetylene during the World War II, and restarted to illuminate after the Recovery of Taiwan.
