The lighthouse is situated at the hilltop of Dongding Island in the Amoy Zone (Siamen).

　　The lighthouse was built in 1871.The lighthouse was once renovated in1913 and 1927. The lighthouse was made of bricks into tubular shape. It was equipped the first-class oil lamps, and damaged during the 823 Artillery Battle on Kinmen .

　　In 1963, the lighthouse was re-equipped with the fifth electric lamp, which flashed once every ten seconds with 2,600 candlepower light.
