A single dialect is currently spoken in Paiwan Tribe, but in different tones. This, however, may demonstrate that these tribes are originated from a single ancestor.
In fact, there are three arguments about the origin of Paiwan Tribe(including Taitung): one: son of Sun, two: son of Gunther, and three: son of pebble.

Laiyi Village

This village migrated here from cha la a fus (Old Laiyi ) in 1955. It's located at southeast of chua pars Mt. and midstream of Laiyi River . Due to the smaller area of older village, the villagers had to live in two places, i.e. fu tar(West Tribe) in a steep terrain, and cha na cha ase(East Tribe) in a flat terrain. Influenced by the flourishing development of the building industry in the latest decade, many youth make a living in cities as ironworkers, and help improve the living standard of the tribes.

Why is called Shelefafawu Community?

In earlier times, this community didn't cover Big Danlin, Gulou and Laiyi. When the people of Big Danlin wanted to reclaim wasteland in the forest area, they had to climb up. So, this community was named as ¡§Shelefafawu¡¨ (climbing-up) in Paiwan dialect.

Where is Shelefafawu Community?
