Signboard on Railings

The colorful and embellished signboards on railings changed the dull tone of the construction and led the beginning of a new transportation age. It let KMRT become a part of the city, attracting people to look forward to commuting with Rapid Transit. To cope with the unity of the whole design, there have been two stage upgrading. The designed railings enhanced the look of the station. It demonstrated the future look of the station and created a spatial concept. Information and declaration could be found on the canvas. The construction site was decorated so that we only could see the stunning side of the construction..

    Model of Station－Introduction

( Meilidao Station O5/R10)
       The Red Line stations of KMRT are designed with the tradition of the harbor city. Industry development and historic remains compose the city tone. The design uses light and green concept to fulfill the basic need of construction. Glass is used to lighten up the heavy texture. New and old bind together with harmony. History will be revealed in the modernized construction.
Elevated stations integrate with the environment and create new landmarks. The constructions of the stations were contracted out to professional teams. Meetings were held and experts were consulted before building. After the themes and features were decided, constructions have carried out. The public started to see different types of stations.     

    Meilidao Station－R10/O5

        The CR4 Section is located at the intersection of Red Line and Orange Line. Along the Jungjeng 1st Road, the eastward corridor travels from the eastern end of O4 City Council station, passes through Junghua 3rd Road, Jungshan 1st Road and Linsen 1st Road etc., finally terminates at Jintian Road before the O6 Sinyi Elementary Station. There is an art work called “Prayer” made by Japanese Artist.  The “Dome of Light” glass decoration covering the underground pass was made by Master Lotus from Italy. Along KMRT, artists helped create an esthetic form for KMRT stations and surrounding landscape.

   You Factory Elementary School Station－R14
（Chinese Petroleum Circle）

       The station is close to the Chinese Petroleum, so the station was built with industrial color steel boards and sunshade materials. It looks like an insect with beautiful wings in the outside. It softens the hard line of the building and symbolizes vivid image of life.   

    World Games－R17（Lion on the sea）

       The station faces the marine cantonment. It has a unique flyover implying a naval vessel. The A shape pillar emphasize the tone of the harbor and designates an entrance to Kaohsiung city.

    Central Park －R9

        The station was designed by Richard Rogers, the great architect. It is a world class building, looking like cloud in the sky. The station is near the shopping center of Kaohsiung. Departments and malls are around the area. Besides, we see the central park, city, Urban Spotlight, Meilidao Boulevard, Wufu Boulevard. It is a perfect place for shopping.

    Nanzih Export Processing Zone Station－R19

          （Industrial technology ）

        The station connects to Chinese Petroleum dormitory and Houjing commerce center. The theme of the design is technology oriented. We see sailboat and steel arks to express the texture of industrial city and tone of a harbor city.

    Sanduo Shopping District Station－R8

        The prosperity is made by the departments and shopping malls around the district. Giant buildings create a magnificent landscape. In the future the Hsinkwang Park will enlarge to cover Meilidao Boulevard and Hsinkwang Wharf. Events and activities will be held for parents and youngsters to spend their leisure time.

    Sanduo Shopping District Station－R8

        To preserve our folk culture, the main body of Ciaotou Sugar Refinery Station was to show the integration of tradition and modernity. The gray oblique roof was covered by see through glass light shade. The roof is simple and beautiful. The color tone of the station is red brick color coordinating to historic remains around. Materials after antiques are reminiscent of the old buildings. Short walls are also built around the station.

    Houjing Station－R20（College Elegance ）

        The station sits around Ho-Ping High School, Ho-Ping Elementary School and Kaohsiung Marine University, where intellectuals are cultivated. The theme is therefore named “College elegance.”

    Metropolitan Park Station－R21
         （Metropolitan Park）

        The station is close to the Metropolitan Park, the main body of the station is shown with sailboat and steel ark o express the texture of industrial city and tone of a harbor city.
