This route is most common for Japanese
tourist groups because the then-Taiwan Governor-General Office,
now Presidential Hall, located on Chung-ching South Road, was
built by Japanese. The Lishir Street was a path for Japanese
royal family and special envoys to visit the Japanese-built
Taiwan Shrine on Jiantan Hill. It is now known as Zhong-shan
North Road, one of the most modernized ¡§tourism boulevard¡¨
in Taipei City, also the ¡§diplomatic avenue¡¨ for it is on
the way the Grand Hotel. Martyrs' Shrine is straight ahead
