Location and Coverage:

She-Zi, Taipei City.
It
's the confluence of Tan-Shui and Kee-Lung River.
Condition:

 The diversity of ecosystems found in She-Zi leads to abundant creatures. Kuan-Do Wetland and She-Zi Wetland are important habitats for migrant birds from East Asia. There are three kinds of ecosystems found in She-Zi Wetland. The estuary outside the embankment, mangrove contains Kandelia candel Druce forest and intertial creatures, and the paddy fields inside the embankment.

 

 

 

 

Problems Encountered:

The most serious problem we face is the pollution of Tan-Shui River. Furthermore, some habitants outroot or burn Phragmites communis Trin and mangrove here for planting cash crops. All these speed up the destruction of ecology.

   Waste products of families and illegal factories, garbages, and dirty oil are gradually

   killing the animals and plants.

 

Kuan-Do Wetland

Location and Coverage:

Situated in the southeast region of Kuan-Do Plain. It’s the confluence of Tan-Shui and Kee-Lung River. It’s also known as the most famous wetland in northern Taiwan.
Square Measure:

170 hectares
 

 

 

Condition:

Two ecosystems are separated by the embankment. On the outside lies the marsh while in the inside, freshwater, grass marsh and paddy fields. A perfect ecosystem with mangrove, aquatics, and birds produced.
Environmental problem:

Eutrophication leads to the imbalance of ecosystem. Moreover the waste soil dumping worsens the situation.

 

Disturbance caused by the tourists have become a serious problem of Kuan-Do

   Wetland.

Eutrophication of Tan-Shui River result in imbalanced ecology.

A research team of the National Sun Yat-Sen University, Biological Sciences

   Department, found a new breed named Kandelia obovata Sheue in Taiwan

An endangered bird, Oriental White Stork, was found in Kuan-Do Natural Park on

   March 4th,2003.

 

Chu-Wei Wetland

Location and Coverage:

Most riverside marsh in Chu-Wei。
Square Measure:

60 hectares. Chu-Wei Wetland is the biggest Kandelia candel Druce forest in Taiwan.
Condition:

The government has declared this mangrove the conservation area.
Problems Encountered:

In recent years, dominant species are gradually displacing mangrove.

 Wa-Zih-Wei Wetland

Location and Coverage:

Ba-Li, Taipei Country.
Square Measure:

30 hectares
 

 

Condition:

The plentiful organic nutrients provide food source and the mangrove becomes an excellent habitat for animals. This conservation area is known as “Paradise for crabs”. Anybody can find at least ten kinds crabs here.
Problems Encountered:

The changing condition of Tan-Shui River, the disturbing fishers and tourists, and the dumping of waste soil are the three biggest environmental problems.

 

The government has not yet set up the regulations for Wa-Zih-Wei Wetland.

Location and Coverage:

Yang-Min Mountain
Square Measure:

The smallest wetland in Taiwan, size of a basketball field.
Condition:

It’s a crater lake with its water level influenced only by the rain. Soetes taiwanensis DeVols are only seen here in Taiwan.
Problem Encountered:

Due to lack of rainfall, the lake is disappearing.
 

 

Both the lake and Isoetes Taiwanensis are disappearing.

The forest fire may have endangered Isoetes taiwanensis in Dreamy Lake Wetland.
